Contraceptives

By ordering a prescription, you confirm that you do not suffer from any of the following disorders, conditions or symptoms listed below, that may be a contraindication when using this medicine or require special medical attention:

  • venous or arterial thromboembolism or a risk of thromboembolism (e.g., venous thrombosis, pulmonary thromboembolism, myocardial infarction, stroke or cerebrovascular accident);
  • a known hereditary or acquired predisposition to the development of venous or arterial thromboembolism (such diseases are diagnosed by a general practitioner or hematologist);
  • migraine with a history of neurological symptoms (acute headache, which may temporarily cause loss of vision, hearing, numbness or weakness in the limbs);
  • serious surgical procedures with prolonged immobility;
  • high risk of blood vessel blockage due to: complications of diabetes mellitus, severe hypertension, high blood cholesterol;
  • damage of the heart valve, heart rhythm disorders, bleeding disorders, malignant neoplasms of the mammary gland, uterus, ovary or liver, vaginal bleeding of an unknown cause, sickle cell anemia (a hereditary disease of red blood cells), hearing loss in a previous pregnancy;
  • if you are pregnant or think you are pregnant.

Please note that the use of contraceptives can aggravate (but is not a direct contraindication) diseases such as:

  • Crohn's disease or ulcerative colitis (chronic inflammatory bowel disease)
  • systemic lupus erythematosus (a disease that affects the body’s immune system)
  • hypertriglyceridemia (increased blood fats levels)
  • previous history of blood vessel thrombosis, inflammation of the vein
  • epilepsy
  • depression
  • chloasma (golden brown age spots, the so-called spots of pregnancy, especially on the face)
  • hereditary angioedema (severe allergic reaction)

NB! Consult your doctor if you are being treated for epilepsy, HIV, hepatitis C, fungal diseases, arthritis, since the medications used to treat these conditions can reduce the effectiveness of your contraceptive.
